Project Overview
The Merri Walker Street development in Northcote is a large residential project delivered by Brady Group, with electrical installation works completed by MSquared Electrical. The project required a compliant emergency lighting solution that balanced strict budget requirements with confidence in product reliability and long term support.

Merri Walker Street is a mixed‑tenure residential development, incorporating social housing dwellings alongside private market homes within a single precinct. Located on the banks of Merri Creek in Melbourne’s inner north, the development forms part of a broader residential renewal project with a strong focus on liveability, sustainability and long‑term community outcomes.
As a multi‑building residential site accommodating different tenure types, the project required building services solutions that would support long‑term occupancy while remaining mindful of cost efficiency across the development.
Background
Clevertronics was engaged to provide guidance on suitable emergency lighting options for the site. Given the scale and complexity of the development, a monitored emergency lighting system was identified as a solution that would typically support long term compliance and maintenance efficiency.
However, as a project comprising both social housing and private residences, the development was highly cost sensitive.
